Beslan's Horror

Children are God's opinion that life should go on. Each and every one of us has passed through childhood - the time when there were no worries, there were no deadlines, there were no taxes. 'Those were the best days of my life', sang Bryan Adams, and so will most of us; but not the children in Beslan. A single incident will have now wiped out their entire happiness, their entire innocence and in many cases, their lives.

Terrorist came and held many children, parents and teachers hostage and made unreasonable demands. The Russian government did not agree to them and decided to storm the school using commandos. In the melee that ensued, about 330 lives were lost, including scores of children. As simple as that.

Will Chechnya gain freedom by such horrendous acts? Will the world sympathise towards such people who perpetrate nothing but violence? This has to stop. Russia too should improve its human rights record in Chechnya. This is a stalemate, with no side willing to budge. But please, please don't involve small children in this potpourri of hatred, vengeance, and anger.
