The walk back home

Stony Brook is a village. The University provides us with a 'free' bus service (well, actually we pay $40 per semester for it), but that is what it is called. I use the bus while going to college, as I am half asleep at that time. The return journey though is amazing. I walk back home from college, not out of necessity, but because it is amazing to pass the Health Sciences Center, the only building worth a watch in Stony Brook. It consists of 3 huge cubes connected by 6 bridges - an awesome sight especially at night, when it is glowing in all its splendour. I just stare at the magnificient structure and could spend the whole night doing that.

But the walk back home yesterday was even more amazing. I had company. Devashish rawal and I returned home together. He is from Thadomal Shahani College of Engineering. We spoke a lot - about our course work, about our future plans etc. But then the topic turned to home. He is also very homesick. He told me about the amazing "anda curry" his mom used to make and the way he used to complain about that too and so on. I spoke about my mom's "batata bhaji" and then described how my plate used to be at home, full of amazing delicacies. We spoke about our rooms at home. We spoke about the friends that we have left behind. And here we are, so very far away from home.

Man is indeed a social animal. It was amazing yesterday. Walking back home while talking to Devashish was wonderful. I did not look at the Health Sciences Center even once............
